# Phone Parts HS Codes and Import Duty in Bangladesh: A Classification Guide for Importers
Short answer: Phone parts HS codes decide your import duty in Bangladesh. Displays go under heading 8524, lithium-ion batteries under 8507.60, chargers under 8504.40, laptop parts under 8473.30, earbuds under 8518.30 and other phone parts under 8517.79. Each code carries its own CD, RD, SD, VAT, AT and AIT, so check rates in the current Bangladesh Customs Tariff.
Getting phone parts HS codes right is the cheapest cost control a Bangladesh electronics importer has. The HS (Harmonized System) code on your Bill of Entry decides which duty lines apply, which documents customs expects, and how much scrutiny the consignment gets at Chattogram or Dhaka airport. A box of iPhone screens, a carton of power banks and a pallet of MacBook keyboards can arrive on the same flight from Shenzhen and still clear under three different headings, each with a different tax burden. This guide maps the codes K.H. Infinity uses for phone, tablet and laptop repair parts, explains how the Bangladesh total tax incidence stack is built on top of them, and lists the documents that keep a consignment moving.
An HS code is the international product classification number from the World Customs Organization's Harmonized System, used by customs authorities to identify goods and apply tariffs. The first six digits are shared worldwide. Bangladesh adds further digits for its national tariff lines.
The HS is revised roughly every five years. The current edition, HS 2022, entered into force on 1 January 2022. For our sector, the most important change was a new heading, 8524, which the WCO defines as flat panel display modules, whether or not incorporating touch-sensitive screens. Before 2022, display modules were classified according to the device they were built for. Since HS 2022, they have their own heading. That matters for repair-part importers, because a phone screen, a tablet screen and many other display assemblies now share one classification logic.
In Bangladesh, the code sets the rates for every layer of duty. One wrong digit can change the supplementary duty that applies, and through compounding, the VAT and advance taxes too.
The table below shows the HS codes KHI uses for each product line we import. Codes are given at the international subheading level with the Bangladesh tariff line we declare. Always confirm the full national line and current rates in the tariff before you file.
| Product | HS code | HS 2022 description (summary) | KHI product page |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone displays (OLED, LCD) | 8524.91.00 | Flat panel display modules, other, of liquid crystals | iPhone displays |
| Android displays | 8524.91.00 | Flat panel display modules, other, of liquid crystals | Android displays |
| iPad displays | 8524.91.00 | Flat panel display modules, other, of liquid crystals | iPad displays |
| Phone batteries | 8507.60.00 | Lithium-ion accumulators | Phone batteries |
| Chargers and power adapters | 8504.40.00 | Static converters | Charging accessories |
| MacBook parts | 8473.30.00 | Parts and accessories of machines of heading 84.71 (computers) | MacBook parts |
| Earbuds and headphones | 8518.30.00 | Headphones and earphones | Audio accessories |
| Other phone parts (flex, frames, small boards) | 8517.79 | Parts of telephone sets, other | Phone parts programme |
Three classification details matter in practice:
Total Tax Incidence (TTI) is the combined burden of all duties and taxes collected at import on a Bangladesh tariff line, expressed as a share of the assessable value. It is not one rate. It is a stack:
We do not publish rates here, because they change with each national budget and through SROs during the year. Use the official sources: the NBR tariff schedule, organised by fiscal year and chapter, and the Bangladesh Customs operative tariff, searchable by HS code or description. For a worked example of how the layers compound on a real CIF value, read why your Bangladesh import quote was wrong before the ship left port.
Misclassification is when goods are declared under an HS code that does not match their physical nature and function. In Bangladesh it causes three kinds of cost:
Mixed consignments carry the highest risk. A single invoice line reading "mobile accessories" that covers screens, batteries, chargers and earbuds gives customs no basis to classify, so expect the highest-duty interpretation. Invoice each product type on its own line, with its own HS code, quantity and unit value.
Most clearance problems for electronics come from missing or inconsistent paperwork rather than the goods themselves. A clean electronics file should include:
The Bangladesh Trade Portal is the government's official source of regulatory information for importers. Use it to check whether a product needs any additional permits before you place the order.
K.H. Infinity (KHI) is a Bangladesh B2B importer of phone, tablet and laptop repair parts sourced from Shenzhen, China, with in-house NBR customs clearance and CE and RoHS supplier documentation. We classify each product line before the purchase order is placed, invoice by HS line, and file the battery and charger paperwork upfront, so repair-shop and reseller customers get a landed cost they can plan around. Our China import trade route covers the full Shenzhen to Bangladesh sequence.
If you are importing repair parts and want your codes, documents and landed cost checked before you ship, talk to our customs clearance team or request a quote with your product list.
Since HS 2022, phone display modules are classified under heading 8524, flat panel display modules. KHI declares LCD-based display assemblies under 8524.91.00. OLED modules fall under 8524.92, so match the subheading to the panel technology and keep the spec sheet on file.
Lithium-ion phone batteries are classified under HS 8507.60, lithium-ion accumulators. They also need a UN38.3 test summary and an MSDS/SDS for air or sea freight. Without those documents, forwarders will usually refuse the cargo.
It depends on the HS code. Each tariff line carries its own combination of CD, RD, SD, VAT, AT and AIT, and rates change with the national budget. Check the current First Schedule through the NBR tariff schedule or the Bangladesh Customs operative tariff before you calculate landed cost.
No. Screens, batteries, chargers, earbuds and laptop parts fall under different headings, and a single "mobile accessories" line invites reassessment and physical examination. Invoice and declare each product type separately with its own HS code.
HS 2022 introduced heading 8524 so that flat panel display modules are classified as products in their own right, rather than by the device they are built for. Importers who still declare screens under older parts headings risk a mismatch with the current tariff.
You need a commercial invoice, a packing list, a bill of lading or air waybill, and a Certificate of Origin, plus payment documentation under Bangladesh Bank rules. Batteries also need UN38.3 and MSDS, and chargers should carry supplier CE and RoHS documentation. Consistency between invoice, packing list and HS code matters as much as the documents themselves.
