# Android Display Sourcing Guide: Samsung, Pixel, Redmi and Realme Screens for Bangladesh Repair Shops
Short answer: To source Android displays reliably, match the exact model number (not the marketing name), pick the panel type the phone shipped with, and decide between frame and screen-only assemblies. Fitting Incell or LCD to a phone with an under-display optical fingerprint sensor usually disables fingerprint unlock, so quote OLED for those models.
Android display sourcing is harder than iPhone sourcing for one reason: the number of variants. One brand can ship dozens of models a year, each with regional variants, and one marketing name can cover more than one panel or frame. This guide is written for Bangladesh repair shop owners and parts wholesalers buying Samsung, Google Pixel, OnePlus, Realme, Xiaomi Redmi and POCO, Honor, Huawei and Motorola screens. It covers panel types by brand, assembly formats, quality tiers and the ordering mistakes that create dead stock. For which models drive local repair volume, see our Bangladesh smartphone repair market overview.
OLED vs Incell vs LCD: which Android screen type do you need?
Three panel families cover the Android replacement market:
- OLED / AMOLED. AMOLED (active-matrix OLED) is a self-emissive display in which each pixel produces its own light, so it shows true blacks and needs no backlight. AMOLED is a type of OLED display used in Samsung Galaxy S and many Galaxy A models, Google Pixel, OnePlus, and the upper tiers of Redmi Note, Realme, Honor, Huawei and Motorola.
- Incell / TFT replacement. An Incell replacement screen is an LCD with touch sensing built into the LCD cell, sold as a low-cost substitute for phones that originally shipped with OLED. It works as a display, but it is thicker, shows greyer blacks and needs a backlight.
- Original LCD (IPS / PLS / TFT). Entry-level models from many brands ship with LCD from the factory. For those phones, a quality LCD is the like-for-like replacement, not a downgrade.
The rule that saves most callbacks is simple: replace like with like. An OLED phone gets OLED unless the customer has explicitly chosen a budget Incell repair. An LCD phone gets a good LCD.
Panel types by brand: what each Android line typically uses
| Brand / line | Typical factory panel | Aftermarket options seen | Sourcing note |
|---|
| Samsung Galaxy S | AMOLED | Service pack, OLED, Incell | Ultrasonic fingerprint on several models; keep to OLED |
| Samsung Galaxy A (mid/upper) | AMOLED on many recent models | Service pack, OLED, Incell | Confirm exact SM- model code and frame |
| Samsung Galaxy A (entry) | LCD on many entry models | LCD | Variants change between years; check specs per model |
| Google Pixel | OLED | Genuine (via official programmes), OLED, Incell | Under-display fingerprint; avoid Incell |
| OnePlus | AMOLED | OLED, Incell | Under-display fingerprint on most numbered models |
| Xiaomi Redmi Note / POCO | AMOLED on upper tiers, LCD on others | OLED, Incell, LCD | Same series can mix LCD and AMOLED across variants |
| Realme numbered / C series | AMOLED on upper tiers, LCD on C series | OLED, Incell, LCD | Check fingerprint position (side vs under-display) |
| Honor / Huawei | Mostly OLED mid-to-upper, LCD entry | OLED, Incell, LCD | Regional model codes vary widely |
| Motorola Edge / G | OLED on Edge and some G, LCD on others | OLED, LCD | Check each G model, not the series |
The table describes general patterns. Brands change panel suppliers and technologies between years and regions, so confirm the panel type for the exact model before ordering volume.
"With frame" vs "screen only" assemblies
Android screens arrive in two formats, and choosing the wrong one costs either labour or margin.
- Screen only. The display panel and touch layer without the midframe. Cheaper to buy and ship, but the technician must separate the old panel from the frame, clean the adhesive and bond the new panel. That takes longer and carries more risk on curved-edge models.
- With frame. The display already bonded to a new midframe or chassis. The technician moves the board, battery and small parts across. Faster, cleaner and usually more consistent, at a higher unit cost.
For high-volume models with flat displays, screen-only stock suits experienced technicians. For curved-edge Galaxy S and Edge-style phones, or for counters with less experienced staff, with-frame assemblies usually cost less once redo labour is included. Check the frame colour, because many with-frame Samsung assemblies are colour-specific.
Service pack vs ORG vs aftermarket: what the labels mean
A service pack screen is a manufacturer-supplied replacement display, packaged for authorised service channels, usually with the brand's part number on the label. Samsung, for example, supplies genuine repair parts through its self-repair programme, and Google Pixel owners can buy genuine Pixel parts through iFixit. Service pack stock is the top tier for quality and documentation.
"ORG" is an informal market label with no fixed meaning. In Bangladesh's trade it can mean a service pack unit, a pulled original panel, a refurbished original with new glass, or simply a high-grade aftermarket screen. Always ask the supplier which of these "ORG" refers to, and get the answer in writing on the invoice. Our article on fake Grade A display labels explains why unverified labels cost shops money.
Aftermarket covers third-party OLED, Incell and LCD panels. Quality varies a lot between brands and batches, so judge suppliers on consistency and returns handling, not on the label.
Model-number traps that create dead stock
The marketing name is not the part number. Most Android ordering mistakes come from treating them as the same thing.
- Regional suffixes. Samsung model codes begin with "SM-" and end with letters that identify the variant. A model such as the Galaxy A16 5G is sold under several codes, for example SM-A166B and SM-A166P. Do not assume every variant uses an identical frame, connector or panel. Confirm the full code against the supplier's compatibility list.
- 4G vs 5G versions. Many Samsung, Redmi and Realme models have 4G and 5G versions with different internals. The display may or may not interchange.
- Same series, different panel. Within one Redmi Note or Realme generation, the standard, Pro and Pro+ variants can use different panel types and sizes.
- Rebadged models. Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO, and some Realme and OPPO models, share hardware under different names in different markets. That helps cross-referencing but should be verified for each model.
Ask the customer, or your technician, to read the exact model code before you quote. Samsung explains how to find a Galaxy phone's model number in Settings > About phone. Most other Android brands show it in the same place.
Fingerprint-under-display compatibility with Incell
This is the costliest mismatch in Android display sourcing.
- Optical under-display fingerprint sensors sit beneath an OLED panel and read the finger through it using the panel's own light. An Incell or LCD replacement has a backlight and layers that block this path, so fingerprint unlock usually stops working after an Incell fit.
- Ultrasonic under-display sensors, used on several Samsung Galaxy S models, read the finger with sound and are sensitive to the stack above them. Use OLED, preferably service pack, and expect re-enrolment after the repair.
- Side-mounted or rear fingerprint sensors are not affected by display type, so Incell is a workable budget option on those phones.
If a customer with an under-display sensor asks for the cheapest screen, explain before the repair that an Incell will likely lose fingerprint unlock. Write it on the job card.
Incoming QC for Android screens
- Match the full model code and frame colour against the order.
- Test-connect before removing any protective film. Check touch at the edges, especially on curved panels.
- Run solid-colour screens to find dead pixels, tint and, on OLED, uneven tint at low brightness.
- On under-display fingerprint models, test enrolment on a test device where possible.
- Label each batch by brand and date so returns can be traced.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between AMOLED and Incell Android screens?
AMOLED is a self-emissive OLED display in which each pixel lights itself, giving true blacks and supporting under-display optical fingerprint sensors. Incell is an LCD with touch built into the cell and needs a backlight. It is cheaper but thicker, has lower contrast, and usually cannot support under-display fingerprint sensors.
Will an Incell screen break the in-display fingerprint sensor?
On phones with an optical under-display fingerprint sensor, an Incell or LCD replacement usually stops fingerprint unlock from working, because the sensor reads through an OLED panel. Phones with side or rear fingerprint sensors are not affected. Quote OLED when the customer needs fingerprint unlock.
Should I buy Android screens with frame or screen only?
With-frame assemblies cost more per unit but cut labour and redo risk, especially on curved-edge phones. Screen-only units are cheaper and suit experienced technicians working on flat-display models. Many shops stock with-frame for flagships and screen-only for high-volume budget models.
What does "service pack" mean for Samsung screens?
A service pack screen is a manufacturer-supplied replacement display packaged for authorised service channels, usually with the brand's part number on the label. It is the top quality tier, with the most predictable colour, brightness and fingerprint behaviour. Confirm that the part number matches the phone's exact model code before fitting.
Why does the exact model number matter when ordering Android displays?
One marketing name can cover several regional and network variants, for example the Galaxy A16 5G sold as SM-A166B and SM-A166P. Frames, connectors or panels can differ between variants. Ordering by full model code rather than name is the simplest way to avoid dead stock.
